YOGA

The ancient practice of yoga has been utilized to unite the body and mind to improve our holistic health.

Yoga is commonly sought after for physical healing and to improve our flexibility. Although yoga does provide physical wellness, Janis finds that the real value is found in the “side effects.”

“Saying you're not flexible enough for yoga, is like saying you're too dirty to take a bath.”

  • I desire to create a more accessible yoga experience by removing stereotypes and expectations, such as the “perfect pose". Many believe yoga is only for the fit and flexible. The truth is we can all practice yoga by blending breath work with movement, even if that movement is slow or impaired. Breathing with movement teaches inner awareness as a physical sensation to help us know and trust our bodies.

We are all in a different place with our physical bodies and I encourage the use of modifications through blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets so that students begin to find strength and healing in their yoga practice. Everyone can benefit from improved access to yoga. My goal is to see a diverse yoga culture that accepts everyone.
